Dry, Soft, Red, Merlot, Syrah, Xinomavro
A good choice - simple and easy-to-drink, with aromas of red forest-fruits, cherry and rose petals. Light, spicy, mild tannins
Type of wine: Dry Red Wine.
Appellation: The grapes are sourced primarily from contract growers of the crus of Agios Panteleimon within the Amyndeon Appellation in Northwestern Greece. Sprawling at an altitude of 600m on poor sandy soil, the vineyards reach yields that rarely exceed 40 hl/ha. The area is marked by cold winters and warm summers, but the four surrounding lakes create a unique mild mesoclimate.
Vinification: Hand picked grapes, cold soaked at 11-12°C in a reductive environment for 2-5 day. Fermented at 20-22°C, followed by malolactic fermentation in tank. During the first five months of the year, the lees are stirred twice a week (batonnage), in order to achieve a fuller body. After the final blend the wine is bottled, usually in April after the harvest.
Varieties: Merlot 50%, Xinomavro 25%, Syrah 25%
Tasting Notes: It has a clear yellow-green colour. The amazing aromas of summer exotic fruit like melon, mango and mature citrus are perfectly balanced with the aromas of nuts and vanilla coming as a result of the 6 month maturation in oak barrels with the presence of fine lees. Full and greasy mouth in absolute balance with the acidity. It has a long aftertaste with notes of brioche and nuts.
Pairing: A simple and easy-to-drink match to pasta, vegetarian dishes and barbecue delights.
Allergen declaration: Contains sulphites
